Zemax reconstruction of Defocus Control lens (105mm F2.8 Nikon)

A reconstruction in Zemax of the lens given from the prescription given by patent US5841590 A, “Aberration controllable optical system”, by Haruo Sato, Nikon Corporation. The glasses can be substituted from the Abbe numbers and Nd given. The first prescription in the written part is analysed. Default merit function in Zemax is used to focus the system.

This design led to the 105mm F2 DC and 135mm F2 DC lenses. Excellent portrait lenses with soft focus and beautiful bokeh.
